In brief:
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched blockchain templates that will support Ethereum and the Hyperledger Fabric.

For the developers seeking to create projects based on blockchain, the technology underlying bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, here’s a good news! Amazon.com has made their work easier by launching blockchain templates.

On Thursday, the Amazon’s cloud computing division launched “AWS Blockchain Templates” which will provide users pre-set blockchain frameworks. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) blockchain templates will support Ethereum and the Linux Foundation’s Hyperledger Fabric.

By providing a quick and easy way to create and deploy secure blockchain networks with open source frameworks, AWS “blockchain-as-a-service” platform will compete with Oracle and IBM.

Blockchain technology eliminates the need for a third-party intermediary by enabling multiple parties to record transactions without the need for a central authority to verify transactions. Thus, it creates a permanent and secure record of transactions which are immutable and independently verifiable.

The AWS blockchain templates will save the time and energy of developers as instead of working on the manual setup of their blockchain network, they can simply focus on building blockchain applications. The users will be able to deploy Ethereum and Hyperledger frameworks with certified AWS CloudFormation templates.

The platform enables the user to choose containers on an Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster, or directly on an EC2 instance running Docker. The developer creates the blockchain network on their own Amazon VPC. This enables them to use their network Access Control Lists and VPC subnets. They can assign granular permissions using AWS IAM to restrict which resources an Amazon EC2 instance or Amazon ECS cluster can access.

The developers are required to pay for the AWS resources which they need to run their blockchain network and Amazon is not charging any additional fees for using the templates. To start using AWS Blockchain Templates, users can visit the “getting started” page to understand it better. Developers can create and deploy blockchain networks in any public AWS region.
